"was i a broken piece
or some floating debris
drawn into your orbit

in truth i am worthless
lifeless
no light of my own
nor the only moon

but because i am your only one
you think i'm comparable to the sun
could i be loved?
but why?

for stealing the sun's light?
for changing your tides?
for watching over your nights"

the moon sighs, it will never understand earth's infatuation

* when the sky falls (right bottom)
–– ~4" x 4" print
when the sky falls
and the people wail,
"of the collapse of all we once knew!"
i'd turn to you––we know the truth:
the sky was never real.

just a reflection
built upon the bones of the sea.
enforced by heaven's decree.
no one agrees
to birth, but we complacently think
this cycle––the sky is a blessing.
all while we are born in debt,
forced to pay our respects,
to whom? may the weight of heaven crush out backs. so,

when the sky falls
and the world wavers
will you stand by me
and together we'll savor
"oh the collapse of all we once knew!"
i'd turn to you––we know the truth:
about time it was built anew.
